Gold Coast Australia Travel Destinations – Hinterland

Gold Coast Hinterland

Normally, visitors to the Gold Coast Australia think only of the great beaches and surfing as tourism attractions in the Gold Coast, Queensland. However, there is more to explore in the Gold Coast hinterland, such as the Springbrook National Park, Canungra and Numinbah Valley. The fun and adventure in this exciting hinterland of Gold Coast is vastly different from anything that you would have encountered anywhere else in the world.

Springbrook

The serene and tiny settlement of Springbrook nestles in the Springbrook National Park. The Antarctic Beech trees and the wildlife will take you to another world. Several waterfalls adorn this national park area, which is a rocky enchanting landscape. The Purlingbrook Falls is the most important among them. This beautiful rainforest offers several kilometres of walking trails that will help you unwind from the stress of the busy life you had been leading. You should never miss the one km trail in the Natural Bridge area in the park, which takes you to a glow worm cave situated at Cave Creek. This trail is through the Natural Arch. At the base of the creek, you can swim in the Waringa Pool and refresh yourself.

Canungra

Canungra is home to the Lamington National Park, the valleys of the Coomera River, Canungra Creek, Binna Burra Resorts and O’Reilly’s. The hills and mountains with thick woods are idyllic picnic spots. You can leisurely bushwalk, bird watch or hang-glide. Trekking and hiking in this area will recharge you and make you a new person. On every fourth Saturday of the month, the markets in Canungra will come to special life with fresh produce and local arts and crafts. Canungra is famous for its wineries and also for local cuisine serving eateries.

Numinbah Valley

The Aboriginals of Australia found the narrow valley that appeared as if it was holding two mountains together with its power. They used the word ‘Nyummin’, which in their language meant ‘hold tight country’. The Numinbah Forest Reserve contains Waterfall Creek. The silky oaks and dry Eucalypts are a treat to watch. You can cycle or horse ride in this area after obtaining due permission from the national park authorities.

Gold Coast Hinterland Accommodation
